On Saturday, veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was at the center of yet another thrilling Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) incident. Ashwin's one mishandled throw during the Dindigul Dragons' game against the Siechem Madurai Panthers turned into a series of mistakes that led to three lost run-out opportunities on the same delivery.
The second-to-last ball of Madurai's innings was when the tragedy happened. Ashwin was fielding when batter Gurjapneet Singh drove the ball to extra cover.
Ashwin promptly sent a throw to the non-striker's end after spotting a run-out opportunity, but it wasn't gathered cleanly. The hitters caught another run after seeing the fumble.
Another throw from short mid-wicket towards the striker's end went awry, allowing the two to rush through for a third run, adding to the commotion. The hitters didn't press their luck any farther, but a last attempt by the short third man also went unnoticed.
Visibly incensed, Ashwin remained still on the pitch, angry at his teammates and himself for the careless fielding that converted a simple single into three runs.
