Finn Allen, a daring batsman from New Zealand, set several records in the first match of Major League Cricket 2025, a franchise-based Twenty20 league in the US. Allen, playing for the San Francisco Unicorns against the Washington Freedom at the Oakland Coliseum on Friday, hammered a record-breaking 151 runs in just 51 balls.
Remarkably, Allen had no buyers at the Indian Premier League auction table just six months prior. The New Zealand batsman, who had a base price of Rs 2 crore, was not sold during last November's IPL 2025 activity.
During his record knock, Allen’s strike rate was 296.07 and he hammered 5 fours and 19 sixes. His fifty came off 20 balls, his century came in 34 balls, and his 150 came in 49 balls.
Allen broke the T20 cricket record for the fastest 150 during the knock. It took him 49 balls to attain the milestone. The right-handed batsman hit his century in 34 balls, making it the fastest in the history of the event and the fastest by a Kiwi batsman in T20 cricket.
Allen also scored the most sixes in a men's T20 innings, surpassing the records held by Chris Gayle and Sahil Chauhan of Estonia. Allen's score of 19 put him ahead of Gayle and Chauhan, who had both hit 18.

“Was exciting (on making the fastest hundred in MLC history), off to a good start, found the boundaries regularly, we had a few partnerships and got a good score on the board. The boundaries are fairly decent," said the Kiwi batter after his record innings.
