WATCH- K. Aashiq’s bat breaks mid shot; bowler narrowly avoids getting hit in TNPL 2025 match

In an amazing moment, during a match between Chepauk Super Gillies and Nellai Royal Kings in TNPL 2025 on June 9, batter K. Aashiq’s bat snapped in mid-shot and flew in the direction of the bowler Emmanuel Cherian, who narrowly avoided getting hit.

K. Aashiq smashed a length delivery on off-stump towards the mid-off fielder. However, while playing the shot, his bat snapped in half, and a huge chunk of it flew in the air straight toward Cherian. Players and spectators watched in disbelief as the broken piece of the bat sailed past the bowler, missing him by inches.

Fortunately, nobody was harmed, but the dramatic incident gave the Tamil Nadu Premier League a memorable moment. The footage of this incident was even posted on X by Star Sports Tamil.

The bat breaking into two parts is demonstrated in the video. The bat is then seen being closely examined by the on-field umpires. K. Aashiq, the batter, couldn't help but smile when he saw that the ball had shattered.

Talking about the match, the Chepauk Super Gillies amassed a dominant 212 for 7. With 54 runs off 38 balls, opener K. Aashiq led the way. Vijay Shankar's undefeated 47, Swapnil Singh's 45, and captain Aparajith's 41 were next in line.

With just 171 for 9 in their allocated overs, the Nellai Royal Kings were unable to mount a successful chase. In an effort to stabilize the pursuit, their captain and opener, Arun Karthik, struck 51 runs off 42 balls.
