The Indian cricket fraternity was beyond distraught after at least 11 lives were lost in a stampede at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru while the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) squad celebrated their IPL 2025 win inside with the Karnataka CM and deputy CM in attendance.
On Wednesday afternoon, the RCB contingent landed at the HAL Airport and took their team bus to the Vidhana Soudha to meet with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. At the airport, the state's deputy chief minister welcomed the Rajat Patidar-led delegation.
The Karnataka State Cricket Association organized the event, which attracted a large crowd. Fans flocked to the venue to see their team's cricketing heroes, even though it was only open to those with proper tickets and credentials.
A makeshift slab over a drain close to the stadium grounds broke under the weight of people standing on it, according to early information given to the government, sources said. Numerous people were killed and injured in the rush that followed the abrupt fall, which prompted fear.
In a press conference, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah revealed that 11 persons had perished in the stampede and that an investigation into the incident had been ordered at the Deputy Commissioner level. Additionally, he promised the families of those who died Rs 10 lakh apiece in compensation. He also promised that the injured would receive free care.
Three ladies and three men were among the six confirmed fatalities at Bowring Hospital. Manipal Hospital verified one fatality, while Vydehi Hospital reported four.
RCB was also criticized by multiple fans on social media for continuing the celebrations inside the stadium while a tragedy was happening outside, and fans died. IPL chief Arun Dhumal revealed that the officials inside weren’t aware of the incident outside, and the franchise wrapped up the event quickly after learning of the same.
Meanwhile, members of the Indian cricketing fraternity took to social media and shared their condolences for the deceased and concern for the injured.

My deepest condolences go out…
Very badly organised RCB victory celebrations.where seven peoples died. We should have stopped the celebrations. We have no value for the human being.
