Former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has challenged the Indian team to prove their might by playing Pakistan in all three formats in a series. Mushtaq stated that if this multi-format bilateral series takes place, the reality of which team is superior to the other will become clear.
India defeated Pakistan by six wickets in the present Champions Trophy, and Mushtaq's words have raised some eyebrows. Pakistan had batted first and posted 241 runs thanks to Saud Shakeel’s 62 runs. In response, Virat Kohli made 100* to take India to a 6-wicket win.
“If we keep political things aside, their players are outstanding and they have been playing good cricket. If you are a good team, I think let’s play 10 Tests, 10 ODIs, and 10 T20Is against Pakistan, then everything would become clear,” Mushtaq said on said while speaking on 24 News HD.
The former Pakistan off-spinner, who has around 500 wickets in international cricket, believes that if his country makes the right preparations, the side can become a force to be reckoned with in international cricket.
“If we get our preparation right and sort out things in the right direction, then we will be in a situation where we can give solid answers to the world and India as well," Mushtaq said.
Pakistan was ousted from the domestic Champions Trophy after failing to win a single game. Their final group-stage game against Bangladesh was called off.
Disgruntled fans are already clamoring for fundamental reforms to Pakistan's cricket establishment, beginning at the top of the pyramid, only days after the country's first global event in over three decades began.
This marks the third straight time Pakistan has bowed out in the group stages of a global white-ball tournament, after early exits from the 2024 T20 World Cup and 2023 ODI World Cup.
