Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh revealed how the 'Jasprit Bumrah nightmare' continued for him when his nephew imitated the Indian pacer's bowling action during a session of backyard cricket.
Bumrah was in terrific form during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 as he constantly troubled the Australian batters. The right-arm quick claimed 32 wickets during the marquee series and led India to a historic win in Perth.
Bumrah broke a number of records during the tour Down Under and he was adjudged Player-of-the-Series despite India suffering a 1-3 defeat.
While Marsh was one of the few batters who was able to survive Bumrah’s onslaught initially, he was dismissed by the Indian star in the Brisbane Test and was dropped from the playing XI of the Sydney Test. Bumrah has dismissed Marsh thrice in 8 innings in Tests.
"My nephew Ted is four years old. We were playing backyard cricket the other day and he came to me with Bum's (Jasprit Bumrah) action. And nightmare continued," Marsh quipped while speaking at the Australian Cricket Awards.
Marsh also joked that Australia defeated India in Adelaide and Melbourne with just 10 players as he was horribly out of form.
“It’s been incredible, really ... capped off by the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and the way the boys played especially with 10 players, without me. They did really well,” the all-rounder stated.
Marsh was asked about the reaction from the fans when he won the Allan Border medal last time and if he 'felt love' from them this time around as well. In reply, he said: “Yeah, prior to December I felt a lot of love. Post-December, bit of a different story.”
Mitchell Marsh is currently out of action with an injury. He has been ruled of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy and his participation in the IPL 2025 season is also in jeopardy.
