Former New Zealand pacer Trent Boult humorously described how he would bowl the first over to Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar.
In a video posted by MI Cape Town on social media, the left-arm quick opened up on his hypothetical strategy, involving a surprise bouncer.
“All right, a very easy, very simple plan,” Boult began. His imaginative field setup included one slip, a cover, a point, a mid-wicket, and a mid-off.
He envisioned deceiving Tendulkar into thinking an in-swinger was coming, aimed at middle stump, tempting him into a subtle push that would result in catch at mid-wicket.
Boult explained, "I'd even bring my cover fielder in close, making it look like a trap." But then talked about his ultimate move. “I’d run in, start my delivery, then change the plan completely,” he quipped.
In this fictional clash, Boult would also use a surprise bouncer, targeting Tendulkar’s helmet. He saw the batting maestro attempting a hook shot and getting caught by the leg-side fielder.
“First ball of the game—so easy,” he signed off, knowing that executing such a plan is a bowler's dream against someone of Tendulkar's caliber.
Meanwhile, Trent Boult is currently plying his trade in SA20 2025, representing MI Cape Town. The 35-year-old has claimed five wickets in seven matches so far.
On the other hand, his team has accumulated 21 points by registering four wins. MI Cape Town are currently occupying the second spot in six-team standings.
