Ahmad Shahzad, an out-of-favor Pakistani batter, has made a stunning assertion that his attractive looks have caused him a lot of trouble in his cricket career. Ahmad made his international debut for Pakistan at the age of 17 in an ODI against Australia at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in April 2009.
Shahzad, who was a member of the Pakistani side that won the T20 World Cup in 2009 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, last appeared for the Men in Green in October 2019.
Despite being only 33 years old, Shahzad has not played for Pakistan in the last six years and has even boycotted the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Shahzad has over 5,000 runs in 150 international matches.
During his recent appearance on a podcast, Shahzad said that senior players in the Pakistani team targeted him for being good-looking.
According to him, in Pakistan cricket, when a player is good-looking and has a good dressing sense, he becomes a target of the senior cricketers.
“I’ve been a target within the Pakistani team for this. I’m not defending myself here, but others have also faced this. If your fan following grows and people appreciate you, it’s hard for some senior players to accept.
We come from small areas. I lived in Anarkali, Lahore, and when I gained recognition, I worked on grooming myself and improving my personality. But this has also caused significant problems within Pakistan," Shahzad said on the Excuse Me podcast.

Shahzad was the first Pakistan to score a century in T20Is. He achieved this feat during the 2014 T20 World Cup match against Bangladesh, where he scored 111* in 62 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes.
