Coming to the match, Melbourne Stars defeated Melbourne Renegades by 42 runs to earn two crucial points.

Asked to bat first, the Stars rode on Glenn Maxwell’s 52-ball 90 (4 boundaries and 10 sixes) to pile up 165/10 on the board.

In reply, Renegades’ innings folded for 123 in 19.5 overs. It was a listless batting performance as no one managed to touch the 30-run mark.

Mark Steketee starred with the ball for Stars, picking up five wickets by conceding only 17 runs in his four overs.
