Babar Azam was in action for Pakistan on Sunday, January 5, during the third day of the ongoing second Test against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town.

Babar, who hasn't scored a century for Pakistan in Test cricket since December 2022, appeared in fine form on Sunday, but Marco Jansen sent him back to the bench before he could break his long drought.

Babar, who scored 58 runs off 127 balls in the first innings, hit ten fours in the second and combined 205 runs for the first wicket with captain Shan Masood. Masood finished the third day's play with 102 runs off 166 balls, with Pakistan on 213/1 in the second innings.

Meanwhile, Babar was involved in an altercation with all-rounder Wiaan Mulder after a throw by the pacer hit the batter.

The incident occurred on the fourth ball of the 32nd over of Pakistan's second innings. Babar, who was batting on 58 runs from 87 balls at the time, moved forward and hit the ball powerfully back at Mulder, who, after collecting the follow-through, tossed it back at him.

Babar was slightly outside the crease, but his toss was much off-target. After being hit on the toe, Babar was not pleased with Mulder's actions, and the two exchanged a few words.
