Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to field first At Supersport Park and his bowlers did well by removing the first three batters Shan Masood (17), Saim Ayub (14), and Babar Azam (4) for cheap.
Kamran Ghulam then held up one end and scored a beautiful 54 runs, and he got support from Mohammad Rizwan (27) and Khurram Shahzad (28) as Pakistan posted 211 runs in the first innings.
For South Africa, Dane Paterson took a fifer, while debutant Corbin Bosch took 4/63, including a wicket of his first ball in Test cricket, as he dismissed Pakistan's captain.
With Kamran Ghulam and Kagiso Rabada in the center of it all, the first day of the first Test match between South Africa and Pakistan was plenty of drama. The day's talking points were the heated on-field altercations and their aftermath.
Despite finding it difficult to withstand the South African pacer's deadly deliveries, Ghulam, who is known for his belligerent behavior, allegedly used derogatory remarks about Rabada.
Ghulam and South African wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne also had a furious argument, so the tension didn't end there. The players' verbal exchanges demonstrated the fierceness of the match and the significant stakes involved in Test cricket.
