Aryan, the child of former India cricketer and coach Sanjay Bangar, had posted a clip on Instagram that highlights the transition to Anaya. After undergoing hormone replacement surgery, the 23-year-old shared the results of the 10-month procedure on social media.
Nothing speaks more deeply to 23-year-old Anaya Bangar, daughter of former Indian cricket player Sanjay Bangar than sharing her passion for cricket with the globe throughout the years.
Now going by the name Anaya, she still harbors the same love for cricket as she excels on the pitch as a left-handed batter.
Anaya shared a now-deleted reel on her Instagram account, that included photos of her as a male, Aryan, and also snaps with MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. It also showed her playing club cricket for Hinckley Cricket Club in Leicestershire.
"Chasing my dream of playing cricket professionally has been a journey filled with sacrifices, resilience, and unwavering dedication. From early mornings on the field to face the doubts and judgments of others, every step has demanded strength," wrote Anaya (then Aryan) in the now-deleted video.
Just like her father Sanjay Bangar, Anaya previously played for Islam Gymkhana and now plays the trade in Manchester.
However, in November 2023, the International Cricket Council (ICC) stated transgender athletes will not be allowed to participate in women's cricket.
"Inclusivity is incredibly important to us as a sport, but our priority was to protect the integrity of the international women's game and the safety of players," stated ICC CEO Geoff Allardice.
Taking to Instagram, Anaya also shared a lengthy post to express disappointment over ICC's new rule.
