WATCH: Fans caught sleeping during Babar Azam’s slow knock in Multan Test; Pakistan batter subjected to brutal trolling

Babar scored 30 off 71 balls when other batters scored at brisk pace.

Babar Azam | XBabar Azam failed to make a mark on a beautiful batting pitch in Multan when Pakistan faced England in the opening Test, which got underway on Monday (October 7).

On Day 1, when the likes of Abdullah Shafique (102) and Shan Masood (151) slammed brisk centuries, Babar struggled with the bat in hand, scoring only 30 runs off 71 balls with five boundaries. Chris Woakes dismissed him LBW as the hosts reached 328/4 at stumps.

Woakes got one to jag back and wrapped Babar on the pads. The umpire raised his finger, giving the batter out. Babar reviewed the decision, but to no avail as replays showed that the ball clipped the stumps. As a result, Pakistan also lost a crucial review.

This dismissal prolonged his poor run in Test cricket, leaving the fans disappointed. In fact, some spectators were caught on camera sleeping during Babar’s knock, a moment that took the internet by storm.

Babar Azam’s terrible run of form in red-ball cricket can be deemed from the fact that he hasn’t scored a half-century since December 2022. The senior batter was subjected to trolling on social media for his failure in the first innings of Multan Test against England.
