Stallions captain Mohammad Haris shocked everyone after he said that he was happy with his team’s recent loss to Markhors in the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup 2024 being played in Faisalabad.

The Stallions have Pakistan national captains Shan Masood and Babar Azam in their ranks and Babar has top-scored for the team in both matches.

His 76-run effort against the Lions enabled the Stallions to win by 133 runs, but his 45 from as many balls could not save them from losing by 126 runs to Mohammad Rizwan's Markhors on Sunday (September 15).

Stallions dismissed Markhors for 231 runs in the first innings after Rizwan elected to bat first, but could only muster 105 runs in response to the 232-run total.

After the Stallions were humiliated in the second match, skipper Mohammad Haris shocked everyone with his unexpected reply. During the post-match presentation ceremony, the right-handed batter told the presenter that he was delighted his team lost the match.

Haris stated that there were no mistakes committed because they wanted to measure the team's strength. He also stated that the loss helped them better grasp their strengths.

“Koi galti nahi hui. Hum jo chah rahe the… team ki strength check kar rahe the. Kyuki pehele din humne jab toss jeeta toh humne pehle batting kari, toh usme hum apni strength check kar rahe the. Aaj humne chaha ki hum chase karte hai taki apni strength ka pata chal jaye tournament se pehle toh wahi hua aur mujhe Khushi hui ki hum haar gaye,” Haris said in the post-match presentation.

The clip of Haris expressing happiness over his side’s defeat was shared online, and within no time it went viral on the internet.

23-year-old Haris, who is leading the Stallions, scored 55 runs in the first match, but he was clean-bowled for just three runs from seven balls by Zahid Mahmood in the second match. Stallions will next face off against Saud Shakeel’s Dolphins in the third match on Thursday (September 19).
