The United States of America (USA) team created history on their debut in the T20 World Cup 2024, as they defeated big-wigs and former champions Pakistan in their group stage match in Texas. The Monank Patel-led team scored 159 runs in 20 overs to force a tie before winning by five runs in the Super Over.
Captain Monank led the T20 World Cup 2024 co-hosts in the run chase, scoring 50 runs from 38 balls, while Mumbai-born Saurabh Netravalkar successfully saved 19 runs in the super over to secure a famous victory for the USA.
And now USA’s Pakistan-born pacer Ali Khan, more than a couple of months after the USA’s win over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024, issued a warning to the Men in Green, stating that his team is capable of duplicating their 2024 T20 World Cup victory over Pakistan.
“I think we are capable enough of beating them (Pakistan) again. If we get a chance to play them again. No disrespect to them, but I think we are a really good side now, and once we are like a full-strength squad, we can beat any team on our day, not just Pakistan. But it will be a great game if we get a rematch with Pakistan,” Ali Khan stated in a video.
Ali Khan had bowled his four overs for 30 runs and had picked the wicket of Fakhar Zaman in the USA’s win over Pakistan in Texas.
Ali made his USA debut in 2019 against Papua New Guinea in an ODI and played his first T20I in 2021 against the same opponents. He has played 15 ODIs and 14 T20Is for the USA so far and has 33 and 12 wickets, respectively.
