Imad Wasim, the Pakistani all-rounder, came in for some heavy criticism for his poor fielding effort in the ongoing CPL 2024. The incident took place during a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) fixture between Antigua and Barbuda Falcons and Barbados Royals on September 1.
During the 13th over of the Barbados Royals' innings, Mohammad Amir delivered a short-pitched delivery that Quinton De Kock steered to third man. Imad Wasim, who was at the deep backward point position, raced to preserve the boundary.
Imad was fielding at deep backward point and he was the one running towards the ball to save the four. However, he eased up and kept jogging as the ball went for a four leaving Amir agitated.
Mohammad Amir was also heard instructing Wasim to rush quickly to stop the ball. The embarrassing attempt was not well received by the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons team, and Imad's fielding position was quickly adjusted on the next delivery.
