Samit Dravid, son of India’s T20 World Cup-winning coach Rahul Dravid, has gained attention in the Indian cricketing circles for his performances in age-group cricket. He has been rewarded with a place in India’s U19 team for the multi-format series against Australia U-19.

The two teams will be facing off in three One Day games and two four-day matches in Puducherry and Chennai.

Samit rose to prominence in 2019 after scoring a century for Mallya Aditi International School in an Under-14 state-level cricket event in Karnataka.

Samit was Karnataka's fourth-highest run scorer in the Cooch Behar Trophy 2023-24, with 362 runs from ten at an average of 36.20, including three half-centuries and a best score of 98. The right-arm seamer also took 16 wickets from 15 innings, with an average of 19.31.

He showed promise with the bat in the recent KSCA Maharaja T20 trophy for Mysuru Warriors in Bengaluru despite scoring 82 runs from seven innings at an average of 11.71 and a strike rate of 113.88. His best was 33 (24) with the help of four fours and a six against Gulbarga Mystics.

Star Sports Kannada shared a clip on their official X handle of Samit where he talks about his selection in the India under-19 squad.

"First of all, I am very happy to be selected, and thank you for all your wishes. I think I am feeling great, I worked very hard for this moment,” Samit said.
