Mumbai was thrashed by TNCA XI by 286 runs in the ongoing Buchi Babu Tournament as they stormed into the semi-finals on August 30, 2024.

Set over 500 runs to win the match, Mumbai could only manage 223 runs in their second innings with Shams Mulani top-scoring with 68 runs. Indian stars failed for Mumbai once again, as Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan flopped while Suryakumar Yadav did not bat for Mumbai owing to an injury concern.

Sarfaraz Khan made a duck, while Shreyas Iyer was out for 22 runs in the second innings. However, the way Shreyas got out was more concerning as it displayed that his short ball issues have not been sorted out.

Iyer has a well-known issue with playing short ball, something that has curtailed his India Test career. He was recently bounced out multiple times on tour of South Africa and even in white-ball games.

This time, Achyuth CV, the TNCA XI right-arm pacer, bowled a short ball at him from around the wicket. Shreyas Iyer pulled the ball towards the leg-side where tha trap was set up and he was caught by R Sai Kishore.

Here are the videos:

The Indian stars in the visiting camp had failed to fire in their first innings as well, with Iyer, Suryakumar and Sarfaraz scoring two, 30 and six respectively.

Meanwhile, Suryakumar did not bat since he reportedly injured his hand. However, it has been determined that the injury is not serious because he appeared to be alright after the bout and was possibly taking precautionary rest.
