Suryakumar Yadav turned out for Mumbai against TNCA XI in the ongoing Buchi Babu Tournament in Tamil Nadu. The India T20I captain is bidding for a return to the Indian Test team and hence is giving it his all to impress the BCCI selectors with his red-ball performance.
The fans were ecstatic at seeing the Indian T20I captain and Mumbai batter fielding at the boundary at the Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science ground in Coimbatore and soon mobbed the cricketer for selfies and autographs.
Batters from TNCA XI had a field day in the first innings of the match on Tuesday, with three of them reaching half-centuries, before tail-ender Ajith Ram S joined the list on Day 2. On Wednesday, despite Himanshu Singh's five-wicket haul and two wickets each by Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian, the hosts comfortably passed the 350-run barrier.
During the first innings of the match on Tuesday, spectators nearly entered the pitch for selfies despite the India batter's warning not to. However, as ground security struggled to control the gathering, he eventually agreed to take pictures and autographs. He posed for selfies and signed autographs in between deliveries.
In reality, near the close of the day's activity, a group of schoolchildren, who were present at the venue, ran inside the ground to get Suryakumar's autograph.

Suryakumar made his Test debut for India in February 2023, in the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia at home in Nagpur. And this remains his only appearance for India in the longest format of the game.
Surya has received a lifeline as selectors picked him in the Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament as well ahead of the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh in September.
