Shoaib Malik, the Pakistan cricketer, has taken a dig at Babar Azam, despite calling him the best player for Pakistan. Babar Azam is being criticized for his leadership and poor performance in the T20 World Cup 2024.

The Pakistan cricket team, led by Babar Azam, was eliminated from the first round of the just-ended T20 World Cup. The team suffered a stunning loss against T20 World Cup debutants USA, which played a significant part in their elimination. Later, the squad failed to chase down a 120-run target against India, resulting in another poor performance at the huge event.

In a viral video, former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik is seen taking a dig at Babar Azam by saying that despite being the best batter from Pakistan today, Babar cannot fit into the XIs of any of the top teams at the moment.

Speaking at a talk show after the India-England semifinal, Shoaib Malik asks, "Who is our best player? Our best player is Babar Azam. I am just talking about the top 4-5 teams. Can Babar fit in the playing XI of those teams? Of Australia, of India or of England in just this particular format? The answer is NO!"

In the four matches he played in this edition of the T20 World Cup, Babar scored 122 runs with a highest score of 44 at an average of 40.66 and a strike rate of 101.66.
