WATCH- ‘Ready to get the PCB and cricket team on right track’- Chahat Fateh Ali Khan wants to be new PCB chief

Chahat also wants Mohsin Naqvi to relinquish PCB post and focus on Punjab responsiblities.

Chahat Fateh Ali Khan wants to take over PCB from Mohsin Naqvi | XSinger Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, whose song 'Bado Badi' has become an internet success, wants to become head of the Pakistan Cricket Board to put the team on the "right track".

Notably, the current PCB chief is Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as the Interior Minister. Chahat wants Naqvi to relinquish the PCB chairmanship for him because the latter already holds another job with "significant responsibilities."

Chahat's statement comes after Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, was eliminated from the 2024 T20 World Cup.

In an interview with Geo News, Chahat, who is a former first-class cricketer, said that he is ready to become the PCB chief as he has "the experience" and "the plan".

The musician advised that the PCB hire an experienced cricketer as its chairman and declared his willingness to take on the post if given the opportunity.

Many people are unaware that Chahat claimed to have helped launch the careers of cricket legends such as Waqar Younus, Mushtaq Ahmed, Saeed Anwar, and Aqib Javed.

Around three decades ago, the former cricketer "accommodated" Younus in his East London flat for over three months before inducting Javed into his team in Sheikhupura, where Chahat was the team captain.

Chahat, whose real name is Kashif Rana, claimed to have played two FC matches, moved to UK, and played club cricket for 12 years.

"I am ready to get the PCB and the cricket team on the right track. If appointed chairman, I would personally oversee player performances and coaching four days a week. I will focus on discipline and will not tolerate any interference,” Chahat said.

Chahat also said he’d appoint only one head coach for the Pakistan team and personally ensure good quality coaching.

When asked if he would like to replace the current chairman Naqvi, Khan clarified: "I am not criticizing Naqvi. I just want him to consider my offer. As he is also the interior minister with significant responsibilities, I believe he should delegate the PCB chairmanship to me. This is no disrespect to Mohsin Naqvi but it's not for him."
