WATCH- Comedy of error results in Zimbabwe missing double run out chance against Bangladesh

Blessing Muzarabani and Jonathan Campbell missed a double run out chance.

Jonathan Campbell missed the simplest of run out chances | XBangladesh and Zimbabwe are clashing in the 4th T20I of the series being played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on May 10, 2024.

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza won the toss and chose to bowl first. Tanzi Hasan (52) and Soumya Sarkar (41) gave a flying start to Bangladesh, adding 101 runs for the first wicket in 11.2 overs. However, after that, Zimbabwe bowlers hit back and only Towhid Hridoy reached double figures and made 12 runs, as the rest of Bangladesh's batting crumbled.

Bangladesh was bowled out for 143 runs in 19.5 overs with Luke Jongwe taking 3/20, while Brian Bennett and Richard Ngarava took two scalps each.

The total would’ve been even less had Zimbabwe fielded well and grabbed the runout chances that came their way. A comedy of errors happened in the last over as Zimbabwe bowler Blessing Muzarabani and fielders messed up a golden chance to run out batters at both ends.

The incident happened on the second ball of the 20th over when Tanvir Islam defended the ball from Muzarabani and took off for a single. Muzarabani had a genuine chance to run out Mustafizur Rahman, but his throw missed the stumps.

The ball went to third man and Bangladeshi batters scampered for the second run. But Rahman was slow to respond, while the third man’s throw reached the non-striker’s end early.

It was an easy chance as the batter was not even in the frame but Johnathan Campbell fumbled the first time and then under-armed it towards the stumps, but ended up missing the stumps.

Fans loved the hilarious mess-up and made the video viral on social media.
