A rather amusing incident took place on Day 1 of the second and final Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Chattogram.
Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto’s bizarre DRS call left the commentators and fans astounded as the hosts seemed desperate to take the wicket of Kusal Mendis.
During the 44th over of Sri Lanka's first innings, Mendis confidently defended a delivery from left-arm spinner Taijul Islam. However, Shanto, who was stationed at slip, felt otherwise and opted for a review, suspecting a potential LBW dismissal.
When the replay was shown in slow motion, it was found that the ball had hit the middle of the willow.
Here's the video:
Sri Lanka ended the opening day on 314/4. Mendis fell only seven runs short of his century as Shakib Al Hasan dismissed him on 93 off 150 balls. Veteran opener Dimuth Karunaratne also missed his hundred, scoring 86 off 129 balls.
At stumps, Dinesh Chandimal (34*) remained unbeaten alongside captain Dhananjaya de Silva, who had scored 15 off 27 deliveries.
