Even Kamindu Mendis replicated his first innings brilliance and scored another fifty. The duo added more than 100 runs for the seventh wicket in the second innings.

However, in their desperation to break the partnership, Bangladesh bowlers tried everything. Pacer Khaled Ahmed thought of a novel idea and tried to run out Kamindu Mendis at the bowling end.

He saw Mendis leaving the crease early and tried to backhand flick the ball on the stumps in his bowling action. However, Ahmed’s aim was faulty and he missed the stumps, as Mendis put his bat back in the crease.
