Islamabad United became the first team to win the Pakistan Super League (PSL) title three times, after they defeated Multan Sultans in the final of the PSL 2024 in Karachi by 2 wickets.
Mohammad Rizwan-led Multan Sultans were playing their fourth consecutive PSL final and won the toss, choosing to bat first in Karachi’s National Stadium. Thanks to Usman Khan’s 57, 32* by Iftikhar Ahmed and skipper Rizwan’s 26, Sultans posted 159/9 in 20 overs.
IU captain Shadab Khan picked 3/32, but the hero with the ball proved to be Imad Wasim, who took 5/23 in his 4 overs.
In reply, Martin Guptill gave Islamabad a good start with 50 runs and formed a good partnership with Azam Khan who made 30.
But in the end, everything went down to the wire and it was Imad Wasim (19*) and Naseem Shah (17), who took United past the finish line with Hunain Shah hitting the winning runs. Islamabad United won the final by 2 wickets becoming three-time PSL champions.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim was adjudged the Player of the Match for his all-round performance. But apart from his match-winning performance, his video of smoking in the Islamabad dressing room has caught the fans’ attention.
In a video that surfaced online, Wasim can be seen smoking a cigarette inside the dressing room. The video appeared on the TV screens after he had completed his spell, returning 5 for 23 in four overs.

It wasn’t the first time that Wasim was caught smoking. There are several videos on the internet which have captured the former Pakistan cricketer smoking.
