Suryakumar Yadav clears up confusion over his surgery; shares positive update on recovery

Surya has been out of competitive action since December last year.

Suryakumar Yadav | GettyIndia batter Suryakumar Yadav on Saturday (March 9) shared a positive update on his recovery while also clarifying that he didn’t undergo surgery to treat his ankle injury.

Notably, Suryakumar picked up an ankle injury during the T20I series against South Africa last December. Since then, he has been out of competitive action.

Taking to Instagram, Surya posted a story and cleared up confusion that the surgery he had few weeks ago was for the sports hernia rather than his ankle.

Moreover, the swashbuckling right-hander revealed that he is recovering well and is excited to take the field once again.

“Hello everyone, good morning. Hope you all are doing well. Just wanted to clear something. Bit of a confusion I guess. For those who aren’t aware, I was operated for SPORTS HERNIA few weeks back not for my ankle. Road to recovery is going really well. Thank you everyone for all the love and support, see you all soon,” Suryakumar wrote on his Instagram story.

Suryakumar Yadav is likely to return to action in the 2024 edition of Indian Premier League, slated to get underway on March 22. His team, Mumbai Indians, is due to open its campaign against the Gujarat Titans on March 24 in Ahmedabad.

It is pertinent to mention here that MI will be led by Hardik Pandya in the upcoming IPL season. The all-rounder would be succeeding Rohit Sharma, who led the franchise to five IPL titles in his 10-year stint as skipper.
