WATCH- “Kaun the yeh genius?”- Wasim Akram asks Azhar Ali after he says a PCB chairman wanted T20 stars in Test team

The discussion was happening on a Pakistan TV show.

Ramiz Raja wanted Pakistan to play T20 stars in Tests to counter England's Bazball | PCBWasim Akram has been sharing his thoughts on the state of Pakistani cricket without many restrictions and a recent video of his has gone viral. In the said video, former Pakistan captain Azhar Ali discuss how there was a plan to introduce T20 stars in Pakistan’s Test team.

Azhar Ali was explaining how a former PCB chairman wanted to draft T20 players in the Test team citing the advancement in cricket.

Listening to this, Akram could not hold back and said, "Yeh kaun the genius (Who this genius was)?" "Ramiz Raja," said Azhar in reply, and the discussion panel was left in splits.

Here is the video:

This statement of Ramiz Raja had come when England had toured Pakistan and thrashed the hosts 3-0 in the Test series. This was the first time Pakistan had gotten whitewashed in Tests at their home. This was the time when England’s Bazball approach to batting was at its peak.

"Like England for example, I suggested to Babar that England are playing the T20 format in a five-day version, so you better pick T20 players here. It's a forced mindset on Pakistan, which I absolutely like. I want the future generation to think of it as a T20 format, like England are playing," Ramiz said to Sky Cricket during the Multan Test, the second game of the series.

The Pakistan government removed Raja as the PCB chief in the aftermath of the team's 3-0 whitewash by England in the Test series in December 2022.
