Ranji Trophy 2024: WATCH- Shardul Thakur celebrates his maiden FC century for Mumbai

He scored his maiden FC ton and took Mumbai to a position of advantage.

Shardul had first picked 2/48 as Tamil Nadu was bundled out for 146 runs in 1st innings after Sai Kishore had won the toss and chosen to bat first. Vijay Shankar (44) and Washington Sundar (43) were the top scorers for Tamil Nadu.

In response, Mumbai found themselves in trouble despite Musheer Khan’s 55. Sai Kishore starred with the bowl, taking 6 wickets, including Ajinkya Rahane for 19. Shreyas Iyer also made his cricketing return in this match but fell for just 3 runs.

Hardik Tamore made 35 runs to stabilize the innings, but it was Shardul Thakur who launched a brutal attack of TN bowlers as he hit his maiden FC ton when Mumbai needed it the most. He hit 13 fours and 4 sixes in his knock of 109 in 105 balls. He also added 79 runs with Tanush Kotian for 9th wicket.

Shardul Thakur was over the moon after he hit Ajith Ram for six straight down the ground and then celebrated his maiden century in FC cricket in style. He was lauded by the Mumbai dressing room as he helped the team out of trouble.
