“You'll play higher grades quickly,” Nathan Lyon appreciates aspiring Indian spinner’s bowling

Lyon encouraged the Indian fan to keep working on his bowling.

India, a country full of cricket crazy people, has seen many talented cricketers emerging from gully cricket.

The meteoric rise of social media has only helped the budding talents to flaunt their skills by sharing videos from their gully cricket sessions.

"Hello Sir, I am Balram Kumar. This is my bowling video. Please Check," an Indian fan posted on 'X' (formerly Twitter), and tagged R Ashwin and Nathan Lyon in it.

Lyon noticed the post and replied, “Keep that up, and you'll play higher grades quickly.”

Lyon and Ashwin are widely regarded as the greatest spinners of the modern era. The off-spinners share mutual respect, which is evident from their exchanges on social media.

Recently, Lyon congratulated Ashwin after the Indian spinner completed his 500 wickets in Test cricket during the third Test against England in Rajkot.

"Hi Ash, just wanted to say, massive congratulations for taking 500 Test match wickets. It's been an incredible journey to watch. I have got nothing but respect for the way you have gone about it. It's been amazing to be competing against you, but also learn from you. Congratulations and plenty more to come," Lyon said in his social media post.

Lyon completed the same milestone in December 2023 by dismissing Pakistan's Faheem Ashraf during the three-match Test series. The duo became the 8th and 9th bowlers to enter the exclusive list that features Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, James Anderson, Anil Kumble, Stuart Broad, Glenn McGrath, Courtney Walsh.
