Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen is really impressed with Yashasvi Jaiswal’s performance in Test cricket so far but stated the India batter will have to succeed in overseas conditions to be rated as a great.

On Saturday, February 17, the Indian opener notched up his third Test century and his second of the ongoing five-match Test series against England. Before his century in Rajkot, Pietersen took to social media platform X to share his thoughts on Jaiswal’s batting talent.

Pietersen stressed that Jaiswal's ultimate test would be to prove himself in different conditions if he wants to be one of the greats in Test cricket.

He feels Jaiswal’s ability to score centuries outside of India, where conditions might pose different challenges to his temperament and skill, would matter most.

Kevin Pietersen wrote on X: “I don’t see a single weakness in Jaiswal’s game in Indian conditions. His greatest challenge is going to be scoring runs away from home. To be classified as a great player at the end of your career, you gotta get 100s away from home in ALL conditions.”

However, following Jaiswal's century, Pietersen also expressed confidence that the Indian opener has the capability to score centuries against any opposition, regardless of the conditions.

Pietersen’s second X post read, “And watching Jaiswal very closely over the last couple weeks, he CAN get 100s everywhere and I think he will be a GREAT of the game one day! ????”
