AUS v WI 2024: WATCH- Shamar Joseph and co. celebrate a magnificent first Test win in Australia since 1997

West Indies handed Australia their first loss in day-night Tests.

Shamar Joseph won the Player of the Match and the series | GettyWest Indies was at cloud nine after they defeated Australia in the recent second Test match in Gabba, Brisbane to level the 2-match Test series 1-1. Set 216 runs to chase, Australia was folded for 207 runs as West Indies won by 8 runs on January 28, 2024.

This was West Indies’ first Test win in Australia in 27 years, with their last win down under coming in 1997. This win also broke the streak of 20 Test defeats for West Indies against Australia.

Shamar Joseph was the hero of this Test win, taking 7/68 in the second innings and 8 wickets in total. He was named the Player of the Match and Player of the Series as well.

Shamar Joseph was the one to pick the final wicket of Australia innings. He clean bowled Josh Hazlewood to give the West Indies team a huge victory, as this was only the second time Australia lost a Test at Gabba since 1988-89. They had previously lost to India in 2021.

After taking the final Australia wicket, Joseph ran towards the boundary and the West Indies players chased after him. The team huddled up and celebrated an amazing Test win for their team, which has undergone some difficulties in recent times.

It was a moment to savor for Kraigg Brathwaite and his boys and they regaled in their achievement.
