Former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam lost his cool while playing for Rangpur Riders in a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 match against Durdanto Dhaka on Saturday (January 27) at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Babar was not one bit pleased with Dhaka wicketkeeper Irfan Sukkur. He was heard repeatedly saying, "I am not talking to you" while charging at Irfan.
After Dhaka batter Mohammad Naim Sheikh intervened and calmed down Irfan, the heated exchange came to an end.
In the meantime, Babar opened up about his displeasure with batting partner Mohammad Nabi. Later, the on-field umpires also intervened to restore sanity to proceedings.
Coming to the match, Babar Azam played a key role in Rangpur Riders’ emphatic 79-run victory over Durdanto Dhaka.
Invited to bat first, the Riders posted 183/8 on the board on the back of Babar’s half-century (62 off 46 balls). Azmatullah Omarzai also produced an impressive cameo of 15-ball 32.
Arafat Sunny was the stand-out bowler for Durdanto Dhaka, claiming three wickets by conceding 32 runs in his four overs.
Chasing the target, Durdanto Dhaka’s innings folded for 104 in 16.3 overs. Alex Ross waged a lone battle with the bat, scoring 51 off 35 balls.
Mahedi Hasan starred with the ball for the Riders, returning with the figures of 3/11 in his 3.3 overs.
