Shami has been out of action since the ICC World Cup 2023, where he was the highest wicket-taker with 24 scalps.

As per BCCI, Mohammad Shami suffered an ankle injury and his knee was also troubling him. This led to Shami missing the home Australia series, the South Africa tour and the recent Afghanistan series as well.

Shami was also not named in the Indian squad for the first two Tests against England in the series that begins on January 25 in Hyderabad.

Shami shared a video on Instagram, exhibiting an array of batting shots, including flicks, drives, lofted hits, and even a reverse sweep. The video showcased his commitment to honing his batting skills.

In the accompanying caption, Shami emphasized the value of hard work, stating, "Hard work always pays off, whatever you do."

Shami, more known for his lethal bowling, has a decent record with the bat in Test matches. In his 64 Test matches, he has accumulated 750 runs at an average of 12.09, featuring two half-centuries, both achieved in England.

He was recently conferred the Arjuna Award and received the award by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.
