Indian cricket fraternity salutes the bravery of Indian armed forces on 76th Army Day

Field Marshal KM Cariappa took over as the 1st Commander-in-Chief of Indian Army on Jan 15, 1949.

President Giani Zail Singh presenting the Rank of Field Marshal to K M Cariappa (Archives/President's Secretariat, Rashtrapati Bhavan)January 15 is celebrated as the Army Day in India as it was in 1949 on this date, when Field Marshal KM Cariappa took charge of the Indian army as the first Commander-in-Chief from General Sir Francis Butcher.

Army Day also marks a day to salute the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the country and its citizens. Especially in 2020, when India was threatened by China at the LAC and more than 20 jawans were martyred in an ambush attack in the Galwan Valley.

The Indian cricket fraternity took to Twitter to praise the Army's valor and pay homage to the brave soldiers who died for the country and attained martyrdom.
