NZ v PAK 2024: WATCH – “Khamosh Reh Ch*****”, Iftikhar Ahmed abuses fan for calling him ‘Chachu’ during 2nd T20I

The incident took place when Iftikhar was fielding near the boundary line.

Iftikhar Ahmed | ScreengrabPakistan all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed lost his cool after he was called 'Chachu' during the second T20I against New Zealand at Seddon Park, Hamilton on Sunday (January 14).

The incident took place when Iftikhar was fielding near the boundary line during the first innings and one of the Pakistani fans from the crowd called him 'Chachu'.

This didn't go down well with Iftikhar as he asked the fan to stay quiet. Even though the person told him that "we are your fans”, the cricketer was heard using abusive language out of anger.

Here’s the video:

Notably, Iftikhar Ahmed is commonly referred as "Chacha" (uncle) by his teammates and fans. Last year, the all-rounder himself revealed how Babar Azam played a big part in him getting this nickname.

"Look this is made by the people and like I said I don't give much importance to what people say. There is a small story behind it and that happened in Zimbabwe when I was bowling and Taylor (Brendan) was batting and I was getting some spin. I asked Babar to remove the midwicket and get the square leg deep because if he wants to hit the ball through the midwicket there is spin and it can go to the square leg.

“Babar said he would hit you for a six and I told him it's just a delivery nothing much will happen and later he changed the fielders and in the following delivery when Taylor hit, it went straight to square leg and he was out.

"Babar was happy and said you are Chacha-e-Cricket because you are so sharp and it was picked up by the stump mics and when I returned to my room, everyone was saying Chacha-e-Cricket, Chacha-e-Cricket, and I could not understand why this was happening and why people were saying this," Iftikhar had said.

Coming to the match, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 21 runs in the second T20I to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

Asked to bat first, the Kiwis posted a solid total of 194/8 in 20 overs on the board, courtesy of Finn Allen’s 75 in 41 balls.

In reply, Pakistan’s innings folded for 173 in 19.3 overs. Babar Azam (66) and Fakhar Zaman (50) put on a good show with half-centuries but failed to take the visitors over the line.
