Deepak Chahar with his father Lokesh Singh | InstagramDeepak Chahar of India provided an update on his father Lokesh Singh Chahar, who suffered a brain stroke a few weeks ago. Chahar had missed the fifth T20I against Australia at home because he had gone to be with his father.

His father became ill while attending a wedding in Aligarh and was hospitalized at a local hospital. Chahar learned of his father's illness on December 2 and raced to Aligarh's Mithraj Hospital, where his father was being treated after suffering a brain stroke.

Deepak Chahar was picked in the Indian white-ball squad for the tour of South Africa. "We got him to the hospital on time. Else, it could have been dangerous. His condition is better at the moment. People were asking, why I didn't play the final T20I against Australia. For me, my father is very important. He made me the player I am. I cannot leave him in this condition and couldn't go anywhere,” he had told Sports Tak.

Chahar missed a considerable amount of Team India action this year due to injury. He last played an ODI for India in December 2022, and his most recent T20I appearance before the fourth T20I against Australia came against South Africa in October 2022.

Now, Chahar gave an update about his father by sharing a photo with him on his Instagram. He wrote in the caption: “Have learned so much from you Papa. Once again you have shown how to fight in life in or with life. Very lucky to be your son. Thank you everyone for your wishes. The good part is  that I saw my father in beard for the first time.”
