Afridi also claimed that he didn’t understand what he said at first and hence he laughed and clapped.

Razzaq recently sparked fury after making disparaging remarks about Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai while assessing the performance of the Pakistan squad at a recent event.

A viral video featuring Razzaq's statements on Aishwarya has gone viral, with Afridi and his teammate Umar Gul laughing and clapping along. Since then, the trio has faced enormous backlash on social media, with Gul and Afridi both apologizing over the controversy.

Afridi even stated that he would ask Razzaq to apologize for his derogatory remarks.

Razzaq during a presser said, “I would never have good and pious kids if I marry Aishwarya Rai.”

The controversial remark has left many fans outraged on social media, although Afridi insisted that he didn’t understand what Razzaq had said and only later someone showed him the clip of the actual incident.

“I saw the clip when I went home and realized that Abdul Razzaq made a wrong statement. I knew he had a mike in his hand and will say something. He has a habit of getting beaten by shoes. I will just text him to apologize for what he said as it was wrong,” Afridi said on Samaa TV.

Umar Gul has also faced significant criticism for his conduct after Abdul's unusual speech, although the former fast bowler stressed that the contentious remarks made were 'ethically and morally wrong'.

In reply to a fan's criticism, Umar Gul posted on X:Dear brother, @SAfridiOfficial bhai and I did not clap in the clip to endorse what Abdul Razzaq said but it was in sarcasm. No1 there appreciated or endorsed what was said by him. It was ethically n morally wrong. Everyone has a different perspective and it’s always wrong to name people who r not even a part of the conversation.”
