Former Pakistan cricketer Abdul Razzaq has come under severe criticism for using Indian actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai’s name while giving an example of good intentions while talking about the Pakistan team.
Razzaq was present at an event accompanied by former teammates Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi amongst others and he was asked about the Pakistan team’s performance in the recent ICC World Cup 2023.
Babar Azam-led side crashed out of the race for the semis after winning just 4 matches out of 9 in the league stages including a loss to Afghanistan. There were high expectations from this side as they had played as a unit for the past 2.5-3 years, and came into the World Cup as one of the top-ranked ODI sides.
The criticism, following the World Cup debacle, has been quite harsh. From questioning Babar Azam's captaincy of the Pakistan cricket team to their spinners' poor display of the role of the Pakistan Cricket Board, none have been spared.

At an event, former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq made ill-worded remarks about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan while talking about the performance of the Pakistan cricket team in the World Cup. This has led to him being subjected to fans' anger on social media.
While talking about the intentions, Abdul Razzaq said something about Aishwarya Rai which Indian cricket fans did not like at all.
“Everyone over here is taking about the intention and Pakistan’s team. Actually, we don’t have good intention to develop and polish players in Pakistan. If you think that by marrying Aishwarya Rai, a good and pious kid would be wrong, it would never happen,” he said.

Razzaq’s statement got huge applause from the audience and even from Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi who clapped for him.
However, on social media, Razzaq has been slammed by fans from both India and Pakistan brutally for name-dropping Aishwarya Rai and using her as an example of bad intention.
