'Local boy averaged 7.75 at Wankhede'- Michael Vaughan takes a dig at Wasim Jaffer; Mumbai batter retorts

Michael Vaughan attended the IND vs SL CWC 2023 match in Wankhede on Thursday.

Michael Vaughan at Wankhede Stadium | XThe hilarious banter between Michael Vaughan and Wasim Jaffer continued as the ex-England captain took a brutal dig at the former India opener. This came after Vaughan attended the India vs. Sri Lanka World Cup 2023 match at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on November 2nd.

As India defeated Sri Lanka by a massive 302 runs and advanced to the semi-finals of the CWC 2023, Vaughan witnessed the match unfolding in front of his eyes.

Later when Vaughan was at the Cricbuzz studios, his fellow panelist Dinesh Karthik made a video of him writing a funny post taking a dig at his friend Wasim Jaffer. The latest one saw Vaughan troll Jaffer for his Test average on his home ground which the Englishman called the ‘best batting surface’ in India.

So good to be at the Wankhede yesterday. The best batting surface in #India. As a local boy @WasimJaffer14 averaged an astounding 7.75 in Test cricket at such an iconic cricket venue .. #Mumbai,” Vaughan posted on X.

Dinesh Karthik shared the video of the same on his X handle: “The banter continues between @MichaelVaughan and @WasimJaffer14. The Wankhede this time

Soon, Jaffer hit back at the ex-England captain. Not the one to take any jibes laying down, Jaffer pointed out that he did miss out in a few Test matches he played at the Wankhede.

But he preferred other challenges such as scoring double hundreds in home and away Test matches, along with doubles and triple hundreds in First-Class matches.

Jaffer wrote: “Yes Michael Wankhede is a batting paradise, too bad I missed out in the couple of Tests I played there. Could be because I preferred challenges. Like the challenge of scoring home & away Test 200s or FC 200s & 300s.. but you wouldn't know any of those feelings so nevermind
