WATCH - Rinku Singh’s fiery 15-ball unbeaten 37 in India’s win over Nepal at the Asian Games

India defeated Nepal to progress into the semi-final of the men's cricket event.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, captaining India in T20Is for the first time, won the toss and chose to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal thumped 100 in 49 balls with 8 fours and 7 sixes. Gaikwad scored 25 runs, but Nepal hit back with quick wickets in the middle overs.

It was only because of Shivam Dube’s 25* in 19 balls and Rinku Singh’s splendid 37* in 15 balls with 4 sixes and 2 fours that India posted 202/4 in 20 overs.

In reply, Nepal gave India a run for their money scoring 179/9, and lost by only 23 runs. Dipendra Singh Airee (32), Kusal Malla, and Sundeep Jora with 29 runs each were the main scorers for Nepal.

With this win, India progressed to the semi-final of the Asian Games men’s cricket event.

Rinku Singh’s knock enabled India to go past the 200-run mark and he was at his destructive best. During his stay at the crease, he hammered two fours and four sixes. Of those six boundaries, four of them came in the final over of the Indian innings, which was bowled by Abinash Bohara.

Rinku scored 23 runs out of 25 in the final over of India’s innings, which was incidentally the margin of India’s win.
