Veteran India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is widely regarded as one of the shrewd minds in the game. He is quite outspoken in nature and never shies away from sharing his insights.
Ashwin’s social media game is also quite strong as he knows how to shut down the trolls with smooth replies.
On Saturday (September 30), a Pakistani fan tried to mock Ashwin with a reference of Shahid Afridi’s two sixes against him during the Asia Cup 2014.
Instead of being riled up by the post, Ashwin humbled the troll with kindness as he replied: “Those were really good shots, man. Really admired him as a great ball striker.”
Talking about Ashwin, he recently replaced Akshar Patel in India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup as the latter failed to recover from his quadriceps injury.
Akshar’s injury also paved the way for Ashwin’s selection in the recently held ODI series against Australia, where the latter played the first two games and repaid the faith of the selectors and team management.
Ashwin returned with bowling figures of 1/47 (10 overs) in the series opener in Mohali. He continued his brilliance in the second ODI in Indore, picking up three wickets in his seven overs by conceding 41 runs.
Given his current form, Ashwin will hold a key for India in the World Cup, slated to get underway on October 5 in Ahmedabad.
The Men in Blue will begin their campaign against Australia in Chennai on October 8.
