Nitish Rana, who captained the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise in the recent IPL 2023 tournament, has dropped a massive hint that former KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir might return to the franchise after he met with co-owner Shah Rukh Khan.
Gambhir captained the KKR team from 2011-2017 and won the IPL title twice in 2012 and 2014. He holds a unique place in KKR's history. Currently Gambhir has been the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL since last year but continues to receive a special reception from the crowd at Eden Gardens.
Rumors have been floating that Gambhir might make a return to the KKR franchise in some capacity and the former opener himself fueled that fire, as posted a picture with Shah Rukh Khan, co-owner of the franchise.

Gambhir wrote, “He’s not just the king of Bollywood but the king of hearts. Every time we meet I go back with endless love and respect. So much to learn from u. Simply the best.”
The post triggered speculations over a potential reunion between Gambhir and KKR, and Nitish Rana, who led the side in IPL 2023, boosted the excitement among the fans when he reacted to the post.
Rana wrote, “True kings in their own fields! Could this be a sign of a homecoming? Just wondering.”
KKR has not done well in the past two IPL seasons, finishing seventh on the points table. The last time they made it into the knockouts was in IPL 2021 when KKR lost to CSK in the final under Eoin Morgan’s captaincy.
