MI New York (MINY) on Friday (July 28) defeated Texas Super Kings (TSK) by six wickets in the Challenger at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas to qualify for the final of the inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC).
Asked to bat first, TSK posted 158/10 in their stipulated 20 overs. Devon Conway top scored for the Super Kings with 35-ball 38.
Trent Boult starred with the ball for MI New York, claiming four wickets by conceding 24 runs in his four overs.
In reply, MINY overhauled the target with one over to spare with key contributions from Dewald Brewis (41* off 33), Shayan Jahangir (36 off 18) and Tim David (33 off 20).
With this victory, MI New York knocked Texas Super Kings out of the tournament and set up a clash with Seattle Orcas in the final.
After the game, MINY skipper Kieron Pollard indulged in a hilarious banter with TSK all-rounder and his compatriot Dwayne Bravo.
In the post-match handshake, Pollard started doing an airplane taking-off signal toward Bravo, indicating that the latter needs to pack his bags and leave the USA as his team has been eliminated from the competition.
