Veteran England pacer Stuart Broad did something unusual with Marnus Labuschagne on day two of the ongoing fifth Ashes 2023 Test which led to the Australian batter losing his focus and getting out the very next delivery.
Australia had resumed on day 2 on 61/1 with Labuschagne and Usman Khawaja being the overnight batters. While Khawaja tried to play some shots to counter the England bowlers, Labuschagne had gone into a shell and was uber defensive in his approach.
Seeing that the right-hander was settling himself for a big score, batting at 9 on 81 balls, Stuart Broad took to theatrics to affect the Australian number three’s concentration.
Broad walked to Marnus’ end and flipped the bails from the stumps, which the batter then touched and set properly.
There was no reason why Broad did that, but it disturbed Marnus’s focus, which wavered and resulted in him edging the very next ball to Joe Root at slips who took an excellent catch.
This led to a very frustrated reaction by the Australian batter as he was seriously angry with his focus being messed with by Broad.
