The Twitterverse was filled with some of the funniest ‘RCB 49 record’ memes after the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) were bundled out for 50 runs in their MLC 2023 match against the Mumbai New York (MINY) at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas on July 16.
Thanks to 48* from Tim David and 38 from Nicholas Pooran, MINY posted 155/8 in 20 overs after winning the toss and batting first.
However, the Los Angeles Knight Riders were blown away by the MINY bowlers as only Unmukt Chand made it to double figures and scored 26 runs. There were scores of 0 in the LAKR batting lineup as they were bundled out for 50 in 13.5 overs.
It was the first win for MI New York in MLC 2023, while LA Knight Riders suffered their second defeat in a row, and also took a major hit to their net run rate.
Following the heavy defeat, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) began trending on Twitter as fans mocked LAKR for their low score comparing them to RCB’s total of 49 runs in IPL 2017 when Kolkata Knight Riders ran rampant.
