The incident took place in the third over of South Africa’s innings when Quinton de Kock smashed the ball towards the long-off boundary. Powell chased the ball and was inside the dive length to pull the ball back into the field before it touched the boundary cushion.

However, as the Caribbean captain spotted a little boy trying to catch the ball, he decided to give up the chase at the last moment. Instead, Powell jumped over the kid and the boundary line and crashed into the LED boards, before toppling over.

Coming to the match, South Africa defeated West Indies by six wickets in a high-scoring second T20I to level the three-match series 1-1.

Asked to bat first, the visitors piled up 258/5 in their allotted 20 overs on the back of Johnson Charles’ dazzling 118 off 46 balls. Kyle Mayers also played a stunning knock of 27-ball 51.

In reply, the hosts rode on Quinton de Kock’s breathtaking century (100 off 44 balls) and Reeza Hendricks’ 28-ball 68 to overhaul the target with seven deliveries to spare.
