NZ v SL 2023: WATCH- Strong winds makes ball drift far in air; leads to camera crew leaving position during Wellington Test

New Zealand won the second and final Test by an innings and 58 runs and series by 2-0.

Bracewell's delivery drifted in the air so much that it landed outside the pitch | TwitterThe fourth day of the second Test between New Zealand and Sri Lanka played in Wellington, saw one of the rarest incidents in cricket. Thanks to strong winds at the venue, the game was so affected that it helped the ball drift in the air itself.

The force was so high that a delivery by Michael Bracewell literally ran away from Sri Lankan tailender Prabath Jayasuriya when he was batting at 2 and Lanka was 337/7 on Monday.

Not only this, but the camerapersons posted on high grounds at the Adelaide Road end of the Basin reserve had to come down from the camera tower. This eventually led to the interruption of coverage from this end while the game was being covered from the other end only.

For those watching at home, the @sparknzsport camera crew have had to come down from the camera tower at the Adelaide Road end of the Basin Reserve due to extremely high winds in Wellington,” BlackCaps said in a tweet.

Apart from this, the delivery by Michael Bracewell, drifted so far away from the batter in the air that it actually landed past the wide line and kept on going away from the batter with winds.

New Zealand, meanwhile, trounced Sri Lanka by an innings and 58 runs after scoring a staggering 580-4 in the first innings. Henry Nicholls (200*) and Kane Williamson (215) were the major run-scorers for New Zealand.

In the first innings, Sri Lanka was knocked out for 164 runs. Sri Lankan batters put in a good effort in the second innings after New Zealand forced the follow-on. They were bowled out for 358 runs, though, as they could not surpass the New Zealand total.

Kane Williamson was named Player of the Series, and New Zealand won the series 2-0.
