Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi and former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir are known for their fierce rivalry both on and off the field. Many times, they made headlines for their jibes at each other on Twitter.

Their feud was started during a hotly contested ODI between Pakistan and India in 2007. Well, Gambhir (India Maharajas) and Afridi (Asia Lions) are currently part of the same tournament in Doha, the Legends League Cricket (LLC) Masters, where their handshake during toss took the internet by storm.

In this event, fans got to see a different side of Afridi as he checked on Gambhir’s well-being after the former Indian cricketer was hit on the helmet by a delivery from Abdul Razzaq.

Even the Pakistani legend also handshaked Gambhir with a broad smile on his face during an LLC 2023 match. Meanwhile, the former Pakistan all-rounder has now opened up about his rivalry with Gambhir.

Shahid Afridi told an LLC presentator: “We are both ambassadors of our respective countries. If you live in the past, you won’t be able to live. We are enjoying in our present. He is leading his team and is in good form, he is playing beautifully and it’s fun watching him bat. I have spent two to three days with him and it has been amazing.”

Afridi also wants to see the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Wasim Akram, and Waqar Younis in the next editions of the LLC.

He signed off by saying, “Be it Sachin Tendulkar or MS Dhoni, from Pakistan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. These are big names and people want to see them.”
