WATCH- ‘Conditions in Australia are different’– Babar Azam on why he prefers BBL over IPL; Harbhajan Singh reacts

Babar Azam has never played in the BBL or the IPL.

Babar Azam on Peshawar Zalmi podcast | twitterPakistan and Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam had made his choice and mentioned that he prefers the Australian Big Bash League (BBL) over the Indian Premier League (IPL), citing differences in conditions between the two leagues.

IPL is an established T20 league, which was the first one launched in 2008 and has become the go-to destination for the best cricketers from the world to come and perform in. The Big Bash League was started shortly after and has gained quite a following with its innovative rules and fan-friendly perks.

While speaking on the Peshawar Zalmi podcast, Babar Azam revealed that he prefers watching the BBL over the IPL and gave his reasons for the same.

“The conditions over there in Australia are different. The pitches over there are really fast and you get to learn a lot. Whereas in IPL, you get the same Asian conditions,” Babar said.

Though many Pakistani players have appeared in Big Bash currently and in the past, Babar Azam is yet to be a part of the BBL. As for the IPL, no Pakistani player has participated in the league post the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

Earlier this month, Babar Azam registered his name in The Hundred draft for 2023. He has entered the draft with a reserve price of £100,000.

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh reacted to this preference of Babar Azam on Twitter as well.
