Talented India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant was hugely missed as India won the recent 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home by beating Australia 2-1. He was missed as two new Aussies spinners Todd Murphy and Matt Kuhnemann troubled the Indian batters.
Pant had been the catalyst for India’s amazing 2021 Border-Gavaskar Trophy win in Australia and everyone was left in shock when he met with an accident while driving from Delhi to his hometown in Uttarakhand on the eve of New Year.
His car tumbled after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a divider on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway near Roorkee. Pant managed to escape the car before it burst into flames and was then helped by the police to reach a nearby hospital for first aid and treatment.
After receiving treatment in Dehradun’s Max Hospital, the BCCI airlifted him to Mumbai and he was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where he underwent surgery to repair the damage to his knee.
This accident and the subsequent recovery process has put Rishabh Pant out of action for atleast a year and while it has been confirmed that he’ll miss the upcoming IPL 2023 and other assignments for the Indian team, he might very well miss the 2023 ODI World Cup which will happen in October-November in India.
Meanwhile, Pant is keeping his spirits up and recently posted a video on Instagram of himself walking in a swimming pool, getting hydrotherapy, possibly as a part of his recovery process.
He captioned the video: “Grateful for small thing, big things And everything in between”
Encouraging him to do better and continue on his journey to full fitness, former India coach Ravi Shastri posted a comment as well, saying: “Keep it going Panty”
